On-Premise and Off-Premise In IT

on-premise and off-premise are the two types of hosting architecture.

On-premise:

on-premise is like a wallet in our pocket. we can put our money in that, it means we are hosting our money in the wallet. likewise in on-premise organizations host their data, servers in house or building.

Pros:

  1. we have complete control over our data.
  2. less expensive.

Cons:

  1. Responsibility of maintenance is on the organization.

Off-premise:

off-premise architecture is like hosting our money in banks. and access them using mobile apps or through ATM’s.

likewise, organizations or businesses can store their data on could servers, so this architecture is known as off-premise architecture or cloud-hosted architecture.

Pros:

  1. can be accessed anytime and anywhere.
  2. easy to handle data.

Cons:

  1. not have privacy over data.
  2. organizations have to rely on a service providers.
  3. need an internet connection whenever wants to access data.
